During his tenure, he has not only led the development and successful implementation of the company’s patient-focused innovation strategy, but also established Edwards’ commitment to philanthropy and corporate social responsibility. Under his leadership, Edwards has established itself as a global leader in patient-focused medical innovations with the introduction of lifesaving and life-sustaining therapies such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement, new resilient surgical valves designed for active patients, and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring. Mike Mussallem has served as Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Edwards Lifesciences since 2000, when it became an independent, publicly traded company. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of New South Wales, a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Master of Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He also volunteers as a trustee for non-profit organizations: UC San Diego Foundation, Rady Children’s Hospital, and Father Joe’s Villages’ project for the homeless in San Diego, California.
